1. Advocacy & Policy Engagement

ReDU actively participates in national and global policy dialogues through the Global Alliance of NGOs for Road Safety, representing Uganda’s civil society in international forums.

  • Led campaigns during UN Global Road Safety Weeks (2021, 2023, 2024) under themes #RethinkMobility and #StreetsForLife
  • Advocated for integration of helmet use and seatbelt enforcement in Gulu and Lira district road safety plans
  • Supported local governments to operationalize national road safety policies

2. Community Awareness & Education

We design community campaigns that empower road users with knowledge to make safe choices.

  • “Drive to Arrive Alive” and “Wear a Helmet, Save a Life” campaigns
  • Outreach via radio, social media, schools, and boda-boda associations
  • Road safety clinics and defensive driving sessions targeting high-risk groups

3. Capacity Building for Enforcement Agencies

We equip law enforcement officers and local leaders with the skills to improve compliance and community policing.

  • Training on speed management, defensive driving, and enforcement procedures
  • Collaboration with ESAMI and Uganda Police Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety
  • Regional trainings across East and Southern Africa

4. Compliance & Enforcement Support

Under the USAID Feed the Future IAM Program, ReDU implemented the COVID-19 Market Compliance Initiative in Gulu and Amuru districts.
